Not just a pretty bunch
Each STEMS WITH BENEFITS can of blooms begins with a food donation: tins we give to the Christchurch City Mission’s Emergency Accommodation kitchen.
Once emptied, they come back to life – upcycled, refreshed, and filled with locally sown and grown flowers from bee-friendly gardens and small local growers.
They’re not fancy floristry, but they pull their weight in charm – colourful, cheerful, and a little unruly.
A small gesture to brighten someone’s day and support the community along the way.
From canned-goods to feel-good
You’ll find these tins in cafés and kitchens, on doorsteps and staffroom tables, sometimes gifted, sometimes self-gifted. Either way, they do a little good in both directions.
Every Can of Blooms sold = cans of food donated to the City Mission.
The bigger the bunch, the more we give.
Once full of beans...
...Now full of blooms

The other side of the garden
During the growing season, the tins are filled with what’s thriving that week – fresh, local, and ever-changing.
In winter, the flower project pauses. But something a little stranger keeps growing...
If you're into plants with personality and a hint of botanical mischief, take a look at our sister project, Stems of Wonder – a seasonal seed subscription for curious growers, featuring wonderfully odd little seeds with tricks up their stems.
